Since before desegregation up to today, Black colleges and universities have made significant contributions to the education and progress of Blacks in America. Now competing on an equal basis with other institutions, these schools provide degree programs in a broad variety of disciplines and fields of study. An impressive percentage of college graduates in Black America came from historically Black colleges and universities.
